

Stowmarket came out on top against Diss in the first ever league match between the two clubs. Stowmarket started strongly scoring three converted tries in the first fifteen minutes. All were instigated by James Simpson who, from inside his 22, scythed through the Diss defence before sending Dan Garrard twice and Matt Edison racing away to score. Dan Garrard then added a penalty before Diss started to show their attacking potential when the forwards drove Chris Beard over for a try. Just before half time Dan Garrard landed a second penalty.

Stowmarket spent most of the second half defending and were twice reduced to 14 players following repeated defensive offences. However, they did manage to make the game safe when a quick tap penalty result in Max Crowe powering over for a converted try. Diss continued to press and were finally rewarded with tries by Matt Richard, sprinting from halfway and Cety Serruys going over in the corner.

Norwich remain clear at the top with Southwold, Ipswich, Diss and Stowmarket in close attendance. Next Saturday Stowmarket travel to Southwold to continue their rivalry.
