Last Sunday morning brought more than just sunshine—it brought connection, laughter, and the comforting patter of paws. At 9:45am, with a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation, I opened up for our very first Sunday Social: Paws Edition. I wasn’t sure how many would turn up, or how it would all unfold, but by 10am, the scene was beginning to take shape.

At first, it was just me and my dad. Then, one by one, a lovely small group started to gather. One gentleman had been wandering nearby, unsure where to go, but soon found us. Two more stumbled across our little group as we waited outside. By 10:20am, we decided to set off on our walk—and on our journey, four more people (and their dogs!) joined in, creating a wonderful, spontaneous crowd.

As we strolled around our field, the dogs ran freely, playing and sniffing their way through new friendships. Meanwhile, their owners—strangers just moments before—began to talk, laugh, and bond over their shared love of dogs and the simple joy of being outdoors.

What stood out wasn’t just the wagging tails or the lovely walk—it was the sense of community. We had men, women, and children from all background, each bringing their own stories, yet finding common ground in conversation and companionship. For some attendees, this was a rare moment of social interaction, a gentle and supportive way to step outside comfort zones and be part of something larger.

In just 30 minutes, we witnessed the kind of magic that happens when people feel welcome and included. Smiles grew wider, voices grew stronger, and we were even joined by more friendly faces and tails. We returned to the club for a free slice of cake and a warm cup of coffee and there was a clear sense that something special had just begun.

These Sunday Socials: Paws Edition are about much more than walking dogs. They're about nurturing mental well-being, breaking down isolation, and giving people a space to connect—especially those who may struggle with loneliness or feel cut off from regular social opportunities. There’s no pressure, no expectations—just fresh air, friendly faces, and the joyful chaos of dogs playing together.

This was just the first of many events to come. Over the next six weeks—and hopefully well beyond—we’re inviting everyone to come along, bring their dogs, meet new people, and take a step (or a wag) toward better mental health and a stronger, more supportive community.

Join us every Sunday at 10am for Sunday Socials: Paws Edition.
Whether you’re new to the area, looking for company, or just need an excuse to get out with your dog, you’re welcome. Let’s walk, talk, and grow together.

Spread the word. Bring a friend. And let’s make every Sunday a little brighter. ?
