This weekend marks the start of a brand-new chapter for Stowmarket Rugby Club as we head to Scottow Park to take on North Walsham Raiders in the opening game of the 2025/26 season.

A Fresh Start

Last year was one of the toughest in recent memory, with the 1st XV unable to secure a win throughout the campaign. But that is firmly in the past. This summer’s pre-season fixtures have brought new energy, with two matches and three wins giving the squad a much-needed boost heading into the season ahead.

Passion and hard work have carried the lads through these last few months. After three challenging years, the love for the game is shining again — and the commitment on the training pitch has been matched by results on the field. We’ve also been proud to welcome some new faces into the fold, adding depth and hunger to the group.

Captain’s Words

Club captain Jack Cole summed up the mood perfectly:

“I’m not sure we’ve ever been this ready to get started. We’ve welcomed key players back into the set-up, and those who fought through last season are bringing their experience forward as both skill and leadership. The spirit in the squad is fantastic, and we’re looking forward to showing our supporters what we can do. This feels like the start of something special for Stowmarket.”

Looking Ahead

North Walsham Raiders will provide a stern test in the first game of the season, but Stowmarket travel with belief, momentum, and a renewed determination to turn hard work into points.
