Returning for his 17th senior season in the Navy, Red and White, Gavin's appointment comes as no surprise to those who have watched him develop into one of the club's most respected leaders both on and off the field.

A true crowd favourite at Phoenix Park, Gavin enjoyed a superb 2025/26 campaign, earning both the Supporters Player of the Year and 1st XV Player of the Year awards. His performances throughout the season were a reflection of the commitment, passion and standards he has brought to the club for many years.

However, Gavin's impact stretches far beyond matchdays.

Having previously coached within the club's youth section, he is perfectly placed to lead not only the current 1st XV squad but also the next generation of Stowmarket players. As the club continues to strengthen its pathway from Colts rugby into the senior game, Gavin's experience and understanding of the club's values will be invaluable in helping guide that transition and build for the future.

His story is one that embodies everything Stowmarket Rugby Club stands for.

Having first pulled on a Stowmarket shirt at just five years old, Gavin has spent the vast majority of his rugby journey at Phoenix Park. Through countless appearances, memorable victories, challenging seasons and successful ones alike, he has remained a dedicated servant to the club and a fantastic ambassador for the game.

As we look ahead to another exciting season, we know the squad will be in excellent hands under his leadership.
