After changes to our pre-season schedule and a little longer away from home than we originally planned, rugby returns to Phoenix Park this Saturday as Stowmarket welcome Diss RFC for our next pre-season fixture.

Following a hugely promising opening performance against Hadleigh, the boys have been back on the training pitch working hard and preparing for another important test ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The clubhouse and bar will be open from 14:00 and, of course, we'll be staying open after the final whistle.

Another Step Forward

Pre-season isn't just about results.

It's about building combinations, getting minutes into players, welcoming new faces into the squad and finding those areas that need a little more work before the competitive rugby begins.

Our opening fixture against Hadleigh gave us plenty to be excited about, but there is still work to do.

Forwards Coach Brad James is certainly looking forward to another opportunity for the pack to get stuck in.

"Hadleigh gave us a really good first run-out and there were plenty of positives, but there's still loads we want to sharpen up. Diss will give us another proper test and, personally, I'm looking forward to a bit more crunch! That's what pre-season is for. Get the boys working hard, get some proper contact into us and keep building towards that first league game."

With Brad's trademark energy on the training field, we're fairly certain the forwards haven't been allowed to forget about the contact side of the game this week!

Rugby is Back at Phoenix Park

Most importantly, Saturday marks the return of senior rugby to Phoenix Park.

We've missed having our supporters around the pitch and we'd love to see a big crowd down to welcome the boys home.

The bar opens from 14:00, kick-off is at 15:00 and we'll be open afterwards, so come down, grab a drink and get behind the Navy, Red and White.
