There’s plenty to be excited about at Stowmarket Rugby Club this season, and one thing is the return of familiar faces— The most recent to confirm are Oscar Hobdell and Harry Hadingham.
The pair spent their summer months taking on a new challenge in Rugby League, turning out for the Anglian Vipers, and now return to Phoenix Park sharper, faster, and ready to test their skills back in Union.
Oscar Hobdell’s Reflections
“It’s really good, still learning the rules ? I play prop which is a little bit different. Stand-out moment? Beating London Scholars away! Just really interesting learning a new kind of rugby to be honest—like how it’s faster paced.”
Oscar’s physicality has been an asset to our back line and even back row, and returns with a new intensity around the contact area.
Harry Hadingham’s Journey
For Harry, League offered the chance to lead play as a half-back—comparable to fly-half in Union:
“It’s going well—third in the league after going up winning the league last season. I’ve played in Colchester, Brixton, all over London. Hoping to progress into semi-pro rugby league in the future too!”
Harry returns with new found creativity and composure the will be assets in key moments throughout our season.
Looking Ahead at Phoenix Park
Both players have tested themselves in a different code and are now bringing that experience home. Faster pace, extra fitness, and a new outlook on the game!
We’re proud to welcome Oscar and Harry back to Stowmarket Rugby Club and can’t wait to see what they deliver this season.
