A message from our Chairman Tom Anderson with a report/update on the future plans for SRUFC

Dear Members,

I hope you and your families are all keeping safe and well during these challenging times. I’m sure that a number of you will have received your first vaccine shot and can maybe see some light at the end of the tunnel now. As you will know there have been a number of changes imposed by the government during the last couple of weeks, as well as some updates from the RFU. I wanted to take this opportunity to explain how the club will be handling these going forward and update you on what has been happening.

Senior Rugby
From the 29th March we move into stage D1 of the return to rugby roadmap. This means that organised sport can restart and contact training (excluding scrums and mauls) is permitted.
Starting on 30th Match senior training will commence once more. Information regarding training will be circulated by the coaches to the players. Training will restart with the same Covid safe rules that were in place prior to the most recent lock down.
From 26th April matches will be permitted with adapted laws (no scrums & mauls) against other clubs. We have no plans to engage in any competitive games against other clubs at this time, however plans are already being put in place for games later in the year as part of a pre-season schedule.
For the ‘purists’ among us, scrums and mauls will be allowed in training from 17th May when we enter stage E1 of the return to rugby roadmap, and then in games from no earlier than 31st May when we enter stage E2.

Junior Rugby
Junior rugby training may commence from 4th April. Please look out for contact from your age group coach to confirm times, training area and designated gates.
Similar to before, there will be Covid related guidance for everyone within the training areas. This will be resent in the coming weeks.
Polite reminder that only coaches and players are allowed within the fenced pitches.

Clubhouse
The clubhouse will be open from 4th April on a Sunday when Junior training takes place to provide hot and cold drinks and food. Please be aware we will not be serving alcohol from this date and it is take away only. You will not be permitted to sit in the clubhouse.
From 17th April the bar will be open to serve customers sitting outdoors, including alcohol. At this time we will only be open on a Saturday and Sunday with the following opening times –
Saturday 12pm – Close*
Sunday 9am – 3pm
*closing time depends on volume of customers
From 21st May the clubhouse will be open to seat customers inside. The planned opening hours at this point will be –
Friday 6pm – Close*
Saturday 12pm – Close*
Sunday 9am – 3pm
*closing time depends on volume of customers
