AGM and Position Openings

Are you passionate about rugby and eager to make a meaningful impact on your local club? Stowmarket RUFC is excited to announce our upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM), where we will discuss the achievements of the past year and lay out plans for the future.

AGM Details:

Date: May 17th
Time: 19:00
Location: Stowmarket Rugby Club

During this pivotal meeting, we will also be electing members to fill key positions within our committee. Whether you're a seasoned rugby enthusiast or a newcomer with fresh ideas, there's a place for you in our dedicated team.

Available Positions:

Chairman

As Chairman, you'll provide visionary leadership and strategic planning to drive the development of all aspects of our club, from player and team development to business operations and fundraising initiatives.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Arranging and leading club meetings
  • Implementing policies and strategies
  • Ensuring club representation at key meetings

If you're a charismatic leader with experience in effective management and business administration, strong communication skills, and a diplomatic manner, this could be the role for you! Rest assured, you'll be fully supported by our dedicated team and previous Chairman, John Phoenix.

Optional involvement in the exciting Shelf Project (new facility build) is also available.

No prior experience is necessary, but leadership and management skills are advised.

Youth Chair

Stowmarket RUFC is seeking a dynamic individual to take on the role of Mini & Junior Chairperson! Could this be you?

As Mini & Junior Chairperson, you'll lead the charge in delivering outstanding mini and junior rugby experiences at our club.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Leading the development of mini and junior rugby
  • Organizing playing and training opportunities
  • Ensuring all members embrace the core values of the game

If you're an experienced manager with strong communication skills and a friendly, diplomatic manner, this role is perfect for you! Plus, you'll have the full support of our team and previous Youth Chair, Rob Older.

We're also establishing a Sub committee and fostering connections between the Senior and youth sections, collaborating closely with senior coaches.

This is a committee position, and no prior experience is needed—just a passion for rugby and a desire to see young players thrive.

Personality Traits: Energetic, supportive, communicative, approachable

Management Accountant

You'll play a vital role in overseeing and scrutinizing our bookkeeping processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Provide overview and scrutiny of the bookkeeping
  • Produce a monthly report for the committee
  • Prepare year-end accounts
  • Offer advice to the bookkeeper, especially regarding VAT queries

This role will be supported by a dedicated bookkeeper who handles day-to-day entries and payments. We anticipate the time commitment to be around 4 hours per month, with a slight increase at year-end.
Best of all, this position won't require you to sit on the committee—focus solely on your financial expertise and contribute to the success of our club!

Events Co-ordinator

You'll lead the planning and execution of exciting events both on and off the field. From themed parties to community gatherings, you'll infuse creativity and organisation into our social calendar, making our club a vibrant hub for all.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Organize Community-Centric Events
  • Initiate Fundraising Activities
  • Create a Vibrant Atmosphere at SRUFC

No need to sit on the committee—just focus on bringing your event-planning prowess to our club!

Personality Traits: Creative, detail-oriented, sociable, adaptable

If none of the listed positions suit you but you still wish to contribute, don't worry! All current committee positions will be open for re-election at the AGM. This is your chance to nominate yourself or someone else for a role that aligns with your skills and interests.
